Waiting on Wednesday (58)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that showcases upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on...

Survive by Alex Morel
Publication Date: August 2, 2012

Synopsis:
Hatchet meets Lost in this modern-day adventure tale of one girl's reawakening.

Jane is on a plane on her way home to Montclair, New Jersey, from a mental hospital. She is about to kill herself. Just before she can swallow a lethal dose of pills, the plane hits turbulence and everything goes black. Jane wakes up amidst piles of wreckage and charred bodies on a snowy mountaintop. There is only one other survivor: a boy named Paul, who inspires Jane to want to fight for her life for the first time.

Jane and Paul scale icy slopes and huddle together for warmth at night, forging an intense emotional bond. But the wilderness is a vast and lethal force, and only one of them will survive.

From Goodreads

Why I want it: "Only one of them will survive"?!?! REALLY?!? And I love that it's compared to Lost. (I miss that show.) Also, debut author! But really, "only one of them will survive"...  I feel like crying already.

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Publication Date: July 3, 2012

Synopsis:
Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair...

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

From Goodreads

Why I want it: Retelling of Peter Pan! Love that story. I'm interested to see the story from Tiger Lily's point of view.

Touched by Cyn Balog
Publication Date: August 14, 2012

Synopsis:
Nick Cross always listens to the voice in his head. Because if he doesn't? Things can go really, really wrong. Like the day he decided to go off script and saved a girl from being run over... and let another one drown. Trying to change the future doesn't work.

But this summer at the Jersey Shore, something's about to happen that Nick never could have predicted. He meets a girl named Taryn and finds out about the Book of Touch. Now the path that he thought he was on begins to shift... and there's no way to stop things from happening. Or is there?

In a life where there are no surprises, nothing has prepared Nick for what he's about to discover - or the choice he will be forced to make...

From Goodreads

Why I want it: I wonder what the Book of Touch is. And there's lots of cover love going on here, too.

What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?

  10. Only one of them will survive, don't know if I'd be able for this, I hate when characters die. I'm not a fan of fairy tale re-tellings so probably wont be reading Tiger Lily, but I am also looking forward to Touched. It sounds really good

  11. Ohhhh, I have a copy of Tiger Lily waiting to be read on my shelf and I'm so excited to start it -- I'm in love with the story of Peter Pan too! And I've peeked at it, and it's actually told from Tinkerbell's perspective of Tiger Lily -- isn't that neat? :) And Survive and Touched sound really cool too!

Awesome picks for your WOW this week, Pamela! I hope you like all of these books when you get the chance to read them! <3 :)
